celebrated at 11.30am in St Molings Church, Ballycanew. Everyone is welcome but keep in mind that
space is limited due to the increase in our school population.
9. Santa Visiting The School – Thursday
22nd December
Santa will be making a special visit
to all the classrooms on Thursday 22nd December
- Christmas Bazaar – Sunday 4th December
- Parents Association
This year’s
Christmas Bazaar was a wonderful success. Organised by the Parents Association,
it raised €1600 approx on the day. The money will go to fund a portable stage
for the school hall. Well done to everyone who helped and to all the people who
came in support. A special word of
thanks and praise for all the wonderful pieces of Christmas artwork created by
the children.
Thanks to all who
contributed so generously to our Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. 80 shoeboxes were sent overseas to refugee
children. The children were so
enthusiastic and delighted to be able to help in this way.
At long last our
New School Library will open next week.
The children are looking forward to exploring all the new books and
resources available to them. The system
is computerized and each pupil is issued with a special library card. Children will be allowed borrow two books
over a two week period. I would like to
acknowledge the wonderful contribution of Rita Brosnan and Bridget Curran in
setting up the new library system. We
see the library as a valuable resource for the children of Ballycanew especially since the Mobile Library Service
was axed by Wexford County Council. The
library is set up to mirror the public library system so that children can learn
to use libraries properly. You can encourage your child to be a reader by
showing interest in the library books they bring home.
5th and
6th class will hold a cake sale and coffee morning on Friday 16th
December from 9 – 11am. Everybody is
welcome to call into the hall to enjoy a cuppa and some tasty treats. Raffle tickets for a Christmas hamper will
also be available to buy that morning. Donations of cakes would be greatly
appreciated. These can be left into the
office Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.
All proceeds raised go towards the Ballycanew NS classroom resources
fund. 5th and 6th
class would love your support on the day. Children can bring in some money to
buy themselves a treat if they wish.
Middletown Autism Centre
- During
November and December, the school hosted Autism Courses for professionals
and parents presented by Middletown Autism Centre in Northern
Ireland. It was a great success as
people came from all over Wexford and surrounding Counties.

January 2017.
